So, many may wonder, what plant suits best for my living room, or my balcony, or my room that has little to no light? Well, I am glad that you stumbled upon this blog! Hanafiee will come to the rescue! Most plants are quite easy to handle. Some thrive well when you LITERALLY neglect it. Some need extra love and care. Not all plants require water every day. Some once a week and some once a month. Some plants love full sun, and some plants don’t. It all comes down to your intention of purchasing the plants and the plant species. I would like to advise you to thoroughly search for the optimum ecological condition of the plants before purchasing. Better come prepared than to come with nothing at all. Alright, without further ado, here are the 5 plants that are known to thrive well with little to no maintenance!
Snake plants, a.k.a Sansevieria trifasciata.
This beautiful, “spikey” plant grows well in any type of light given! Be it full sunlight, partial shade, or full shade, the versatility of this plant makes it easy for beginners! This is one of the plants that can grow well with it being neglected for weeks! Fun fact, this plant is actually a succulent that can grow as tall as 90 centimeters! Be sure to have ample space before placing and nurturing the plant! It is ideal to water this plant once every 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the light and the temperature of the environment. The more sunlight it receives, the more water it needs for biochemical reactions, such as photosynthesis. This plant is also known to purify the air around us. It is a literal two-in-one package!
Peace lily, a.k.a Spathiphyllum wallisii
The closest one can ever get to a lily. These beautiful white flowering plants thrive well in the low-light areas. Many have mentioned that the visuals of the peace lily have brought them calm and tranquillity. I guess who wouldn’t need that, especially with the chaos going all around the world right now. This plant is renowned for its easy care. Water them once a week, fully saturate their soil with water, and they are good to go! Lighting-wise, full sunlight may cause the leaves to burn. Hence, the ideal location for the Peace lily is bright indirect sunlight. The light will help induce their flowering mechanism! It is also known for its ability to purify the air! So, not only does it look good, but it also cleans out those bad particles we breathe in!
Rubber plants, a.k.a Ficus elastica
Have you guys ever wondered what it’s like growing a tree in your house? Well, look no further! The rubber plants are just as close! This plant thrives well in bright direct areas and loves warmth. Since, rubber plants are usually found in warmer climates, getting this plant sun-tanned wouldn’t be an issue. However, since more water will be lost due to the amount of heat it receives, watering them every 3 or 4 days would be ideal, meaning it requires higher maintenance. Most people place this plant in a bright indirect area to prevent from watering them, frequently. I’d say get that baby out and let them soak in the sun! It helps with their growth rate.
Money plants, a.k.a Epipremnum aureum
Now let us talk about the beautiful, easy to care trailing plant! This plant is so hardy that it can survive even when there is no natural light. You can keep it in dark corners or in the shade. The Golden Pothos can grow in fluorescent light, which makes it a great choice for offices. It is ideal for those without much experience. A great thing about this plant is that it can survive under almost any condition. However, to make the plant bushier, having bright indirect light will do the job! Fully water the plants once every week. With much love, you will get to see ‘money’ trailing down from your pot, promising an abundance of fortunes.
The Adanson's monstera, a.k.a Monstera adansonii
Monstera adansonii is known to be relatively low maintenance. These plants thrive in warmer temperatures, moist soil, and high humidity. How to increase humidity? Just mist the leaves every morning! For it to grow big and healthy, place it in a bright indirect light area. This plant is famous for its unique leaves as it is a real asset. They are fenestrated, with symmetrical holes around the midribs. Most homeowners purchase this plant due to that unique trait of monstera leaves. Like money plants, Swiss cheese plants can trail down or climb, given external support such as a wall or wooden stick.
Phew! We are done! Not really actually. There are more plants that are easy for one to take care of! However, personally, these few houseplants are generally known and famous for their easy care and maintenance. Perfect for beginners who have little to no experience in taking care of a plant!
